After Paula Begoun suggested this as one of the best inexpensive mascaras in the drugstore I figured I'd give it a shot. I was pleasantly surprised that it came in auburn. As a natural redhead it's always a challenge to get a mascara that comes in anything other than black and that doesn't look too harsh. Over the years I've used a number of auburn mascaras (Estee lauder, Revlon, Just For redhead etc.) and every formula was either sub par or discontinued. I'm happy to report this one is really excellent. The brush does an amazing job separating my lashes with no clumps and I don't look like a raccoon at the end of the day. A fantastic drugstore find. I really hope ericaleigh777 is wrong about Max Factor being discontinued in the US. I definitely plan on buying this one again.

Whoever said that this is great for green-eyed strawberry blondes had it exactly right! I really wish they wouldn't discontinue this, everything in auburn that is not overpriced seems to keep getting discontinued. But if you're golden or red-haired, grab it while it lasts! It is excellent.

So sad that MaxFactor will no longer be selling in this US next year. I first discovered this mascara when I had dyed my hair red. I loved it so much. This is honestly the best mascara I have ever used and even though I have black hair now I still sometimes use it and put a coat of black on top of it because I love the formula that much. I must stock up on this and the black before they are gone in the US.

This is truly the best mascara I have ever seen, lengthening, thickening, and seperating. !!!!!! WOW !!!!!!

I've always paid top dollar for mascara but I've never been thrilled with the results. So, I did my "research" on MUA, and decided to try this product. Other reviews said the color was great for strawberry blondes... green eyes... so I gave it a chance. I paid LESS than seven dollars for a GREAT product! Love the color and LOVE the volume and length! I am so grateful to have found MUA!

Beautiful color for redheads, doesn't clump at all, my favorite mascara.

This reminds me of Shiseido's Majolica Majorca lash expander (see review) but it's better...I got the Black waterproof one btw. This mascara definitely holds the curls and does not smudge at all. I don't think it gives as much volume as Maybelline's Volume Express Turbo but it doesn't smudge like it...to get it off was HELL...I probably used the eye make up remover 4 times in addition to washing around my eyes 2 or 3 times...I would repurchase the regular one...the waterproof one was most definitely waterproof! Oh yes, this doesn't clump and I like the brush.
    ::update::
I purchased the non-waterproof one in black and I like it. I use Shiseido's mascara base with this because that makes it smudge proof and gives me more volume and curl hold.
Don't get Max Factor's WATER PROOF mascaras...they are hard to remove. I suggest getting a mascara base and getting a non WP Max Factor mascara.

Although I did not purchase it in Auburn (What difference does it make anyways?), it is so far my favorite mascara of the month! It curls your lashes so well that you basically don't even need an eyelash curler but it still holds your curls pretty well if you do use one! As far as the clumping factor goes, I would say its OK since it clumps only a little teensy bit but if you compare high end mascaras to low end ones, basically all of them CLUMP!!! The only difference is the price and exactly how much it clumps. I highly recommend you try this since all the other mascaras I own are going straight to the trash can! :D

This by far the best mascara for us redheads. I didn't think such a thing existed until I saw it reveiwed on here.
Its not so much a performance mascara as it doesn't do much for length or volume and the brush is really uncomfortable but I have pretty decent eyelashes that naturally curl up in a 90 degree postion, but the effect for a redhead is ideal.
The problem is that redheds shouldn't have black or dark eyelashes but we do still want them to show. I have been wearing dark mascara anyway and it always makes me look a bit overdone but this is so natural and creates just the right effect.
I have taken one lippie off overall rating because it doesn't really do what it claims to do as regards performance but Ithe color is great.

This is very nice for the soft, natural look I prefer on those tired work days. It's not as volume-licious as I expected, but it goes on subtly and without clumping. I like that they sell this in an auburn color, although I think for my particular coloring I need to go a shade darker (dark brown is best for me). This isn't the only mascara I'll try, as sometimes I like something a little more dramatic. But it's great for natural days.

This is an edit (a recant, if you will) of my original rave review. This beautifully-colored mascara, which goes on so well and looks so pretty, flakes like a mofo and drives me CRAZY. It makes me sad because this is really the prettiest color mascara I've ever worn on my fair-skinned, freckled, hazel-eyed self.

Ladies, this is the ONLY mascara I use. I am no longer a raccoon. This is the bset, and I've tried them all.

I'll just add my tuppence to the consensus for this mascara. I'm on my second tube - didn't want to give it premature HG status - but it's still working for me. Minus one lipstick because it doesn't give me as much volume as length, in spite of the name. But great color, long lush lashes, and: no clumps, no smudges, no flakes, no crispy lash. HG for redheads, for sure.

This is absolutely my redhead HG mascara - amazing length and volume for a natural look, beautiful deep red/brown color and very little flaking!

I always loved the auburn shade of MF 2000 Calorie mascara, but wasn't crazy about the mascara itself--it didn't seem to do much for me and my pitiful lashes. Still, I loved the color, it really worked for my coloring (blue/green eyes, red/brown hair). When I found out that this mascara came in auburn, I ran right down and got it. This is what I was hoping the 2000 Calorie would be--it plumps and lengthens mightily. The color is absolutely lovely, a dark mahogany brown--it looks quite reddish on the brush, but not when it's on. Looks beautiful with copper or bronze shadow/liner. Love!

Just realized that I haven't reviewed this although I wonder why because this is absolutely the best mascara I have found. It really makes my brown eyes pop and it gives length, volume, etc., without any clumping. I will repurchase this over and over again..love it!

WOW! this is a great mascara! My Chanel inimitable mascara in the LE shade "bronze" was probably the best color i have seen for a natural look for redheads. This is not quite as natural, slightly more reddish plummy but it is really fabulous nonetheless! It makes my aqua colored eyes (which have yellow veining) super green, my lashes look full and nicely defined. My lashes are pretty long and curly on their own but this is a great mascara for those days you don't want to do full eye makeup as well as the finishing touch for a dramatic look. Volume couture is a great formula, excellent spikey rubber brush, volume + definition but the auburn shade a reddish purplish brown has really sold me on this mascara! (My other fave mascaras are Lancome courbe virtuouse & definicils, YSL faux cils, and Chanel inimitable) I think this is one of the best drugstore mascaras hands down. continued >>

I think this auburn shade might be mostly aimed at redheads and those with hazel (or green) eyes. Past experience with mascara in similar colors told me this color would look good on my hazel eyes, and I was intrigued by the new style of brush.
I have long eyelashes already, and I don't want a lot of goop or clumps on them. The Volume Couture brush doesn't pick up a ton of product from the container, so it doesn't deposit too much mascara on the lashes. Even sweeping the brush several times over the lashes doesn't result in clumps -- just lovely, well-defined lashes in a flattering, eye-catching-auburn color. I'm very pleased with this mascara, and I'm picky about mascaras.
I've already bought another tube, before running out of the first, and I don't think it'll be the last I buy. Standard price seems to be a bit over $7 -- a few dollars more than, say, your basic Maybelline mascara in the pink tube (which I don't care for), but not too bad.

I am brunette, but I think this color was intended for redheads. Adds beautiful volume and length, all without clumping! I love the brush which is from the original Lash Perfection mascara with the plastic brush; the new trend in mascara. I love these new mascaras, never before have I gotten such good separation and definition for eyes that really pop! I would most def. buy again.
